Hello loyal readers! I know its been ages since I've posted! I just got back from Europe, and didn't find much time to be on a computer there as I was visiting with family, seeing friends, and spending some good time with myself! The title of this post is inspired by the movie Eat. Pray. Love that I just went to see. This line, among many others truly moved me and I feel inclined to start blogging about something that is very near and dear to my heart: God. To some this may be a foreign concept, an arbitrary illusion of something that seems ephemerally distant. Some may have encountered this Being through religion or through spirituality, as I have encountered it. I was raised with an awareness of God, of a higher power, but in the past couple years that understanding has completely transformed and changed my life. However one may choose to look at God, as a man with a long white beard, as a woman in a Chanel tweed suit, or as an angel, translucent and untangible, the idea is that there is something bigger than you. Bigger than us. Bigger than what is on this earth, can be moving beyond measure. The idea is that God, as you understand Him, has the ability to fill voids that other humans cannot. God validates, approves of, loves, appreciates, respects, listens to, responds to, and believes in every single human being on this earth. Sometimes we look to others for validation, approval, love, appreciation, respect, an open ear, responsiveness, and belief. One will continue to get disappointed if they have the expectation of getting these things from another person. All these things ("love/approval/validation/safety") are what I like to call SOUL FOOD. Guess what? God's the chef for all of that. His recipes are unable to be found anywhere else-not on google, not in the yellow pages, only in conversation with a higher power. A higher power that takes care of everything if you let it. If this seems all too foreign for you, DONT WORRY...it did to me to, and it does to most people. But it is a practice, and a study, and it is transformative when you begin to grasp the concept.
Here are some things I suggest to begin to find God, but please keep in mind...it takes a lifetime to learn how to live, and an eternity to be one with the Divine.
1) Go see Eat. Pray. Love--> its a playful introduction to such a complex concept
2) Read How to Know God by Deepak Chopra
3) Keep reading this blog ;)
4) Keep showing up in your life, showing up for yourself, being present, loving and accepting yourself for exactly who you are...because just by BEING you are already hand in hand with your higher power. If you were meant to be any different than exactly how you are, God would have made you that way.
Love you all. So glad to be back.
Here are some quotes to close off this overly-spiritual entry.
"Every evening I turn my worries over to God--he's going to be up all night anyways."
"We turn to God when our foundations are shaking, only to find he is the one shaking them"
